I first attended RWC in the third grade. I was not failing school, nor was I receiving low grades, but my parents knew that my reading and writing skills could stand improvement. At RWC, I didn't just read books for the pleasure of it, I had to analyze, question and be able to write about the books effectively. With the help of the teachers, I learned and strengthened my skills in basic grammar, organization, and composition of an essay.
I have taken my lessons from RWC and employed them at school where they helped me tremendously in my English classes. The continual practice of writing well thought out and well written essays paid off when it was time for college applications and college essays. I had mastered the techniques and was ready to woo the colleges.

from an instructor SpiderSmart Learning Center is consistently about growth and meeting individualized needs. Throughout my years at SpiderSmart Learning Center I have seen students master reading & writing skills in an environment that is supportive and task-oriented. As a teacher in the Fairfax County Public Schools system, I am glad that my own son attends something that he looks forward to each week. Sometimes it is hard to make him stop reading.

My son started the Reading & Writing Program in second grade. At that time, he was a reluctant reader. It was a struggle in the beginning. Gradually, through this program he has become a book lover. He is now in fifth grade. He is an avid reader. He always has a book in his hand. Sometimes it is hard to make him stop reading.

My daughter, Jennifer, came to the US at age 9. She started the Reading & Writing Program as soon as she arrived here. She started to read first-grade level books and wrote simple sentences based on the books. After about 8 months, she was reading fourth-grade level and writing essays. The teachers at school were so impressed that she skipped the entire ESL program and maintained straight A's in fourth grade.

SpiderSmart Program certainly emphasizes whether a child comprehends the books' main themes and ideas by asking detailed questions. Patricia had a difficult time thinking of things to write about. The SpiderSmart program asks challenging questions and gives Patricia ideas to write about. Through participating in the SpiderSmart program, Patricia has made a significant progress in the reading and writing skills.

Ami came to the US five years ago. About a year ago, she started Reading & Writing Program. Since then her English grades shot up. For those students who are exposed to two different languages at home, this is a perfect program.

The teachers are very smart and pleasant. I learned a lot of things from them. They can really teach us what we have to learn. My grades are going higher and higher once I started studying with the RWC teachers. I think I should stay at Reading & Writing Center forever.

It's a program that may bring you an unbelievable result if you work hard. However, you are never going to have that result if you don't work hard.
